Brief about the Summit 2025!
In line with this constitutional mandate, the County Assemblies Forum established the Legislative Summit in 2016 as a flagship program aimed at bringing together all legislators. The summit’s main objective is to provide a platform for mutual and collaborative engagement between the Senate, County Assemblies, Inter-governmental Relations Institutions, and other institutions relevant to devolution. The summit also serves as a vehicle to identify capacity and technical assistance needs for the County legislatures, identify and isolate challenges and make recommendations to surmount the challenges facing the institutions to enable them to effectively fulfil their constitutional mandate of law-making, representation and oversight within the framework of the devolved system of governance.
Structure
The summit is traditionally, preceded by pre-summit events focused on Special Interest Groups including Women, Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) and Youth. These events discuss thematic issues relevant to the three groups within the theme of the main event. The resolutions of the pre-summit’s events are ratified in the Main Summit and constitute part of the summit resolutions.
